What this is
New Speedometer is a free, browser-based tool that estimates your current speed using your device’s GPS. It has no account system, no payment, and no warranty of any kind. By using it, you agree to the terms below.
Not a certified speed-measuring instrument
Speed readings are estimates derived from consumer GPS hardware and are subject to the accuracy limitations described on our accuracy page. This tool is not calibrated, certified, or legally recognized as an accurate speed-measuring instrument in any jurisdiction. Do not rely on it to determine compliance with speed limits, to contest a traffic citation, or for any purpose where legal or regulatory accuracy is required.
Do not use this while operating a vehicle
Never interact with a phone or any screen while driving. If you want to check your speed in a moving vehicle, have a passenger operate the device, or mount it securely and glance at it only as briefly as you would a dashboard gauge — and always prioritize your car’s own speedometer and your attention on the road. New Speedometer is provided for general interest and informational use; it is not a substitute for your vehicle’s instrumentation.
No warranty, no liability
This tool is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, reliability, or fitness for a particular purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any damages, injury, loss, fines, or other consequences arising from your use of, or inability to use, this tool, including reliance on an inaccurate reading.
Acceptable use
Don’t attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer for malicious purposes, or abuse this service. We may change, suspend, or discontinue the tool at any time without notice.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the tool evolves. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
